New tank

200L Fluval tank

A big part of my upgrade plan is a new tank. My "plastic" tank has many chips around the edges and some scratches here and there... It is not esthetically pleasing lets say. I bought it very cheaply on eBay just to see if fish keeping suits me as a hobby.

I set myself a budget of £100 and spent about a month looking for a perfect tank. The most important feature for me was a working light unit. An external filter would be a nice bonus.

When I first set my eyes on 200L Fluval tank with cabinet and Sera external filter I didn't believe it's within my reach. I estimated it would go for at least £200. Surprise surprise! I managed to secure it for £115! A bargain!

Now I can start planning what substrate, light, plants, layout...

I've been running a plant-less 105 litre fish tank since January 2012. I decided that I like the hassle of water changes and fish compatibility issues. Hence in September 2013 my plan is to upgrade to a planted aquarium.

This blog will document my major disasters and even small mishaps on my mission to achieve a beautiful planted tank.
